How to Be Your Own Biggest Fan

Being your own cheerleader is one of the most essential practices you can implement into your life. No one knows you, like you! This is especially true as we live in this independent time and spend most of our days with a closer inner circle. Being your biggest fan will help boost confidence, motivation, positivity, and the attitudes of those around you. Here is how to start being your own biggest fan.

be your own

Check-in With Yourself

When’s the last time you checked-in with yourself? As in, really checked-in with yourself. Evaluating your emotional state and feelings each day will help you become a more mindful version of yourself. You will grow your communication skills and be able to better understand others by strengthening your emotional intelligence.

Cheer For Your Team

Cheering for yourself is just as important as supporting your close circle. Do you have a close-knit team at work? Roommates, you adore? How about family members you are close to? Being able to support them is a fantastic way to learn how to cheer for yourself. If you show a strong appreciation for them, you will be more willing to show this gratitude.

Focus on The Good

This might seem like a challenge, especially in today’s climate. However, when you focus on the good, the good gets better. It might sound corny, but it’s true! Emphasizing the positives in your life, such as getting a promotion, celebrating a special occasion, or meeting your fitness goals, will help you learn to show more appreciation for yourself. Try to make it a daily priority to focus on the good and worry less about your days’ negative aspects.

Challenge Yourself

There is no growth without a little bit of risk! Challenging yourself is important to practice persistence, motivation, and resilience. Exposing yourself to new experiences and trying different activities will help you broaden your horizons and expand your knowledge. Try to volunteer for a difficult task at work, sign up for a new class, try a new hobby, or make positive lifestyle changes that you have been scared to make. You never know, you might find your new calling!

Learn to Say “No”

Learning to say “no” is one of the hardest lessons to learn, especially if you are guilty of being a people pleaser! Setting healthy boundaries with those around you will allow you to form a better relationship with yourself and listen to what you truly want. If you just aren’t feeding up to something or have too much on your plate, constantly saying yes can lead to extra stress in your days. Saying no to the tasks and events you do not want to do/don’t have time for will leave more hours in your day to enjoy the things that you love.

Celebrate Yourself

When is the last time you went out of your way to celebrate yourself? Whether you have achieved one of your long term career goals, or surpassed an important milestone in your life, make sure to take the time to celebrate you. It’s okay to treat yourself every once in a while! As long as you’re reasonable, of course. Make yourself one of your favorite meals, buy something small that you have had your eye on, or plan a nice relaxing Saturday for yourself. Whatever the occasion is, make sure to celebrate you and all you’ve accomplished!

Keep Moving Forward

To continue learning and growing into the best version of you, it is essential to avoid dwelling on the past. Keep moving forward and challenging yourself to meet your long term life goals. Overthinking your past choices and mistakes will lead to a feeling of regret. Try to avoid this by making plans for your future, forgiving your past, and being present in the current moment.
